Gasoline prices continue to fall, but not as fast.
It is almost Labor Day, and that means most kids are back in school, and the summer travel season is over. Nick Chabarria with AAA says as high as prices got over the summer, it had drivers doing less of it.
"We know that nearly two-thirds of Americans have changes their driving habits throughout the summer because of higher gas prices," Chabarria said.
While those prices continue to come down, AAA finds the curve is getting less steep.
"Where prices might go, again, I don't think we're going to be able to see prices continue to fall 10, 15 cents week over week," said Chabarria. . "We've already seen those declines starting to slow."
And he says some OPEC members are talking about cutting crude oil production, which would drive prices higher.
AAA says in New Orleans, the price for regular is currently $3.48 on average. That's down a penny from yesterday, seven cents lower from a week ago and 47 cent less than the price a month ago.
The price hit a record high of $4.52 per gallon on June 12th, 2022.
