A multi car fatal injury crash early this morning on I-10 eastbound between I-510 and U.S. 11 closed the roadway for hours, cutting off direct travel over the Twin Spans to Slidell.
It happened when three cars collided just before 4am.
A sedan hit the passenger side of an SUV, forcing it into the guardrail and sliding to a stop in the left lane.
Moments later the SUV was hit by another vehicle.
A woman driving the SUV was seriously injured and transported to a hospital.
Her passenger was pronounced dead at the scene.
A third passenger was also in the SUV, but it is not known if they were injured.
The driver of the sedan that first struck the SUV was also injured and taken to a hospital.
I-10 remained closed through the 8 o’clock hour as a full investigation was performed.
