Troopers say an Amite woman is dead after running off the road.
"Louisiana State Police Troop L responded to a single-vehicle crash on LA Hwy 1054 near Union Church Road in Tangipahoa Parish," Trooper Marc Gremillion said in a news release. "The crash claimed the life of 20-year-old Shellie J. Taylor of Amite."
He says Taylor lost control of her 2025 Kia Sorento.
"For reasons still under investigation, Taylor failed to negotiate a left-hand curve. As a result, the Kia veered off the roadway to the right into a ditch, struck a utility pole, and collided with a tree."
He says EMS took the 20-year-old to the hospital where she died.
"As part of the ongoing investigation, a routine toxicology sample was obtained from Taylor for analysis. This crash remains under investigation."
