With New Orleans swelling with an influx of tourists for the NCAA Final Four and Championship; no fewer than five carjackings took place over two days.

It began Friday night with a group of teens carjacking a man on Read Boulevard near Dwyer Road.  According to WWL-TV, the victim was blocked in by a car with two men exiting the vehicle from passenger and ordering the man to get out.  The men made off with the victim’s 2010 Dodge Ram, license number Y037691, on their way toward Lake Forest Boulevard.


Around 6:30 Saturday morning on South Claiborne near Washington a woman was robbed of her blue GMC Terrain Pick Up, license plate number: 726EQK.  The victim says as she was parking her vehicle, she was approached by two armed men.

Another theft took place just after 7am Saturday morning in the same area.  The driver, a woman, was approached by a car with an armed man behind the wheel.  He demanded she exit her car.  She complied and the thieves made off with her Nissan Kicks.  This vehicle was later recovered.

After Noon Saturday a woman was sitting in her car when a man approached and forced her out of her of the vehicle.  Her car is a grey Nissan Versa, license plate number 904EMV.

The most recent crime occurred just before 2am today off North Lopez and St. Ann Street in Bayou St. John.  A man says two men approached him, got in his vehicle on the passenger side and pushed him out.  The suspects got away with the man’s 2019 GMC Yukon, Alabama license number 45AN472.

NOPD is investigating these incidents separately.

No suspects are in custody.
