UPDATE: Crews reopened the interstate around 10:00am this morning after inspections showed the elevated highway was structurally sound
The I-610 is closed in both directions through New Orleans after fire broke out early this morning at a skate board park under the interstate at Pleasure Street.
Officials want to ensure the stability of the elevated roadway before letting vehicles drive on it again.

The official closure is between the 90 west exit (New Orleans St. / North Broad St.) and the St. Bernard Ave. exit, but the delays stretch much further.
The New Orleans Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames, but the smoke and char marks extend to the concrete and metal supports above.
There was no initial word on what caused one of the skate park ramps to catch on fire.
