New Orleans Police say gunfire left five people wounded in the French Quarter early this morning.

It happened on Bourbon Street about two blocks from Canal Street.

"NOPD officers are investigating a shooting in the 200 block of Bourbon st with multiple victims," Spokeswoman Karen Boudrie said in an email. "Call came out at 1:49am."

Bullets hit three male victims and two female victims.

An initial police report said, "An argument took place, and an unknown black male produced a gun and began firing into the crowd striking multiple victims."

NOPD Director of Communications Gary Scheets later added, "None of the injuries are considered life-threatening."

He says cops did identify two people they say may have been the shooters.

"Two individuals have been detained for questioning to determine whether they are involved in the incident. Weapons were taken from both individuals."

Scheets is asking for the public to help.

"Anyone with information related to this incident is asked to contact the Eighth District at 504-658-6080 or call Crimestoppers at 504-822-1111 and toll-free at 1-877-903-7867."

This shooting came just hours after another shooting on Canal Street between Bourbon and Royal.  That victim was one of five people shot in just over three hours Saturday in New Orleans.
