New Orleans Police say from 5:45pm to just after 9:00pm five people were shot in New Orleans.
One victim was gunned down near the corner of Canal and Bourbon Street.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 700 block of Canal Street in the Eighth District," Spokeswoman Karen Boudrie said in an email. "Initial reports show an 18-year old male was shot multiple times and transported to a local hospital."
She says the call came in at 8:42pm.
An initial police report later showed that the victim died, "The victim was walking in the 700 block of Canal St when the suspect approached him and fired shots striking him. The suspect was apprehended by responding officers. The victim was transported to a local hospital via NOEMS where he was later pronounced deceased."
About 20 minutes later cops were called to the 4000 block of Johnny Jackson Jr. Blvd. near the Industrial Canal.
"Initial reports indicate 2 male victims suffered gunshot wounds."
Just before 8:00pm, there was a shooting in New Orleans East.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting that occurred in the 10,000 block of Hayne Blvd.Initial reports show a 21 year old male sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and was taken to an area hospital."
Around 5:45pm, bullets were flying in the Upper 9th Ward.
"The NOPD is investigating a shooting in the 1500 block Louisa Street."
Boudrie says initial reports show a male victim suffered a gunshot wound.
