The National Weather Service in New Orleans has issued a Flash Flood Warning for areas of Jefferson Parish and New Orleans.
It lasts until 9:15am.
"At 622 AM CDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 1 and 2 inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 1 to 3 inches are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is ongoing or expected," the NWS warned.
They said the biggest threat was for Kenner, Metairie, Jefferson, Harahan, River Ridge, Elmwood and New Orleans Armstrong Airport.
"Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles."
The City of New Orleans is allowing neutral ground parking until 6:00pm.
