After a soaking Saturday, forecasters calls for more downpours Sunday.
"Widespread rain and embedded thunderstorms will continue through Sunday evening," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone warned. "Additional rainfall totals of 3 to 6 inches are possible."
Some spots around New Orleans have already picked up around 5 inches of rain this weekend.
"Localized flooding will remain possible through today before the heavier rain begins tapering off this evening."
Malone says drier weather starts moving in for our Monday as the front settles farther offshore and moisture levels drop.
"Tuesday and Wednesday look much quieter, with more sunshine especially from I-10 northward and highs climbing back into the mid to upper 80s."
He cautions that the break may not last long, though.
"Gulf moisture will be hanging just offshore next week and models have been indicating a surface low moving back toward the central to eastern Gulf coast with rain returning. A developing upper low over Texas will at first help draw the moisture northward, then hopefully by Saturday begin shifting the rain toward the FL panhandle. Stay tuned!"
