Today's flooding could be worse than usual in the city of New Orleans.
That's because the New Orleans Sewerage and Water Board does not have enough electricity to run all of the drainage pumps if needed.
"Turbine 4 is unavailable," according to the S&WB Pumping And Power Dashboard.
The agency says as they await parts for the damaged power generating turbine, they can only produce 40.5 megawatts of electricity. It takes about 44 megawatts to run all of the system.
The turbine was damaged when a S&WB worker attempted to restart it recently without proper lubrication.
As for the pumps, "92 of 99 Major Drainage Pumps Available For Use (2 pumps out due to routine maintenance)."
Neutral Ground parking is allowed between 8:00am and 8:00pm today for drivers looking to get their vehicles out of potential street flooding.
