Former LSU star Flau’jae Johnson was the eighth overall selection by the Golden State Valkyries in Monday night’s WNBA draft. But shortly after, Johnson was traded to the Seattle Storm.
Johnson joins a team that went 23-21 last season and lost in the first round of the playoffs to the eventual WNBA champion Las Vegas.
Johnson will have a chance to start in Seattle after the Storm lost their second leading scorer from a season ago, Skylar Diggins. The seven-time All-Star signed with the Chicago Sky.
Johnson averaged 14 points and four rebounds last season at LSU and shot a career-high 39% from three-point range.
Johnson's selection marks the third consecutive year a Lady Tiger has gone in the first round of the WNBA draft.
