Sports fans in Louisiana now have four casinos they can visit to place their bets just in time for the Saints-Bucs game this Sunday.
The Louisiana Gaming Control Board issued sports betting licenses to Harrah’s New Orleans, Boomtown Casino in Harvey, L’Auberge Baton Rouge, and Horseshoe Casino in Bossier City according to The Advocate. The licenses were temporarily delayed due to Hurricane Ida.
The casinos will be able to take bets starting at 12:01 a.m. this Sunday if they choose to do so.
“It will be up to them if they take bets on Sunday if they are ready to do so,” said Ronnie Johns, chairman of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board.
The Saints host Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Caesars Superdome on Sunday.
The four casinos are the first in the state to receive sports betting licenses from state regulators after the Louisiana State Police’s Gaming Division completed their compliance reviews.
Paragon Casino Resort in Marksville has been taking sports bets since early October because the casino is owned by the Tunica-Biloxi Tribe of Louisiana and is not regulated by the state.
