The fourth place contender in a contest to replace the abandoned Six Flags site is crying foul at the review process.
TPC-NOLA, Inc. says the review process was “inconsistent, subjective and biased scoring.”
They have filed a formal protest over the process.
By coming in fourth, TPC-NOLA finished out of the money and did not advance to the final round of reviewing and consideration.
"The scoring devolved into essentially a beauty contest, where each respondent's qualifications were judged on looks, rather than substance," TPC-NOLA President Tonya Pope wrote in her protest paperwork.
According to the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate, TPC-NOLA wants to be place in final consideration.
They are also calling for bias to be removed from the rest of the process of selecting a qualified redeveloper.
The Six Flags site has been abandoned for nearly 16-years after the park was ravaged and mostly destroyed following Hurricane Katrina.
Since then, redevelopment plans have floated around.
TPC-NOLA wants to revive the amusement park, and submitted a plan to do that.
However, City Hall’s own study found the area best suited for an education destination or transportation hub.
The three winning proposals all plan either transportation or logistics developments as mainstays of the redevelopment.
