A thousand free flu shots are being given out today at a drive-through clinic at the Audubon Zoo. The event has two purposes.
Public health officials have been warning about a threat of a "twin-demic" and have been telling people it is doubly important to get their flu shots this season. And New Orleans mayor's office spokesman Beau Tidwell says this flu shot clinic has a double purpose.
"This exercise will be a chance for our public safety personnel to ramp up and get prepared for the distribution of a vaccine," said Tidwell, referring to the coronavirus vaccines that are currently in stage three trials.
"Flu at the Zoo" starts at 1 p.mm and lasts through 6 p.m., or until all thousand shots are given out.
