Frickey murder suspect's lawyer to jury: "He did it."

"He did it."

That's what the defense attorney told jurors at the start of the trial of his client, John Honoré. Honoré, 18, is charged with second-degree murder in the death of Linda Frickey, who was dragged to death in 2022 while she was carjacked by four teens.

Three of the other teens charged in the case accepted plea deals last week, pleading guilty to attempted manslaughter in exchange for 20-year prison sentences. Meanwhile, the Orleans Parish District Attorney's Office rejected a plea deal proposal offered by Honoré's attorney, setting the stage for this trial.

According to our partners at WWL-TV, Honoré's attorney, Williams Boggs, admitted to jurors that his client was involved in Frickey's death.

"He did it. There’s no doubt that he did it and the state will prove that beyond a reasonable doubt," Boggs said.

However, Boggs told jurors that Honoré does not deserve a life sentence because he did not have murderous intent, noting that Honoré was armed only with mace during the carjacking. Boggs also told jurors that Honoré wants to take accountability for what he did because he realizes is actions were wrong. He also said Boggs wants to plead guilty and that he expects to be sentenced to a long prison term.

If Honoré is convicted of second-degree murder, he will face an automatic life sentence.
