As the District A runoff debate unfolded on WWL, news broke that the New Orleans City Council voted to ask the Louisiana Bond Commission to allow the city to borrow up to $125 million in order to pay city employees throughout the remaining 5 pay periods of the fiscal year.

Holly Friedman and Aimee McCarron are both vying to replace the current District A representative, Joe Giarrusso, meaning whoever wins will be responsible for ensuring New Orleans doesn't fall further into the monetary sinkhole.

Budget management, tracking, and cuts stood out as the central subject of the debate. However, the candidates also spent time sharing their views on how they would deal with pertinent topics for District A constituents, including what they would do with West End blights, management of flooding and potholes, and more.
