One day it’s 80 degrees, the next day the thermostat reads 48! Welcome to November in New Orleans.
A cold front sweeping across southeast Louisiana has locals reaching for sweaters, space heaters, and, in some cases, a little patience.
Whether they were born and raised here or came down from colder states, most residents we spoke with said they’re just not built for this kind of chill.
“I’d rather sweat than shiver,” one Mid-City resident laughed. “We’re turning on the heat, the butt warmers, and everything.”
Another said he’s preparing, reluctantly.
“I’ll get the jackets out and make sure the kids are bundled up, but I don’t like it,” she said.
Even those who once thrived in freezing temps say they’ve lost their edge.
“I’m from up north,” said one transplant, “but I lost my ability to wade through this!”
Still, there’s always one person ready to embrace the cold; the rare New Orleanian who actually likes it.
“It finally feels like fall,” said another resident. “I wake up feeling alive!"
Temperatures will only stay brisk for a moment as a steady warm up throughout the week has us seeing near eighty degree temperatures this weekend.
