After 18 days, Louisiana highway workers removed the garbage truck that fell on its side and crashed into a support at the I-10/Carrollton Ave. interchange.
The on-ramp from S. Carrollton to I-10 west reopened around 4 p.m. Friday.
Workers had to bring in extra supports for the roadway that travels above the I-10 ramp before they removed the truck.

The crash also forced highway officials to close the ramp from I-10 west to Airline Hwy. north.
That roadway will remain closed until officials can assess the damage to its supports and make the necessary repairs.
