The price at the pump has jumped 18 cents over the past month, up five cents in the past week.
While gasoline costs are continuing their upward march, they are little cheaper for us than this time a year ago.
AAA's Nick Chabarria the normal spring increase has been steep at times.
"It's a little bit exacerbated by high crude oil prices this time of year," he said, with geopolitical issues around the world continuing to influence the oil market.
"And as long as those continue, we can expect to see gas prices steadily increase as we head toward summer," he said.
