The Governor’s Office of Homeland Security released an after-action report on the response following the New Year’s Day terror attack and recommended areas where officials can improve.
GOHSEP head, Jacque Thibodeaux, says they were given the tall task of completing the report ahead of Super Bowl 59 and the compressed timeline also included disseminating the information to the public in a quicker fashion.
"We were able to get that done in under twenty-nine days which is unprecedented and at the request of the Governor we made the results publicly available just after debriefing."
Some of the enhanced safety measures planned may feel like it's squeezing the fun out of the event Thibodeaux says it is all in the name of keeping everyone out of harm's way.
For instance, searches that will be conducted on personal items like bags, and coolers.
"There will be enhanced safety zones where you may be subjected to searches. You have every right to refuse that, but you won't gain access to that location without being searched."
