Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards is worried "Invest 98" could mess up one of the quietest hurricane seasons for Louisiana in recent memory.

Gov. Edwards says you'd have to go back to the FIRST Bush administration to find a hurricane season this quiet.

"We're getting towards the end of September, and thus far we've probably have had the best storm season since 1991," Edwards said on his weekly radio program.

But he's watching forecasts of a tropical wave headed for the Caribbean, designated Invest 98L," that could turn north into the Gulf of Mexico.

"Now this is really, really, preliminary, but the models show it could go anywhere from Texas to Florida," said Edwards. "This is more important than normal because a lot of people live in homes that are not fully repaired from the previous two hurricane seasons."

From Lake Charles to Lafourche Parish, Edwards says there are still people in temporary trailers due to the hurricanes of 2020 and 2021.

"Pay attention, get ready, please get a game plan. Do all the things now that we should have done at the outset of hurricane season," Edwards said.
