Phase 3 of the current economic restrictions and guidelines due to COVID-19 will expire tomorrow.
During a press conference today, Governor John Bel Edwards stated he will be signing a new executive order extending Phase 3 for 28-more days, until December 4th.
Edwards says at the current point Louisiana is in a plateau of numbers.
“That’s relatively good news when you consider what’s happening elsewhere really across northern hemisphere. But that plateau is at a relatively high number of cases.”
“So we never did get to a lower case load than we had in the trough of our recovery from the second surge. But that is still relatively good news in comparison with other states.”
The governor says Louisiana is seeing an increase in positivity.
He says this is first sign of increased cases, hospitalizations and deaths.
