A St. Tammany Parish grand jury this week delivered a superseding indictment in the case against 41-year-old Randall Joseph "Trey" Mahon III.
Mahon, the former Deputy Chief of the Covington Police Department, is charged with 17 counts of possession of child pornography, and one count of indecent behavior with a juvenile under age 13.
Mahon had previously been charged with five counts of possession of child porn, along with the charge of indecent behavior.
The new charges come more than a year after a jury deadlocked on the previous charges.
Mahon is scheduled for an arraignment and bond hearing on September 25.
