Gretna Police are investigating a homicide near the Westbank Expressway.
Police say shortly before 9:30 p.m. Friday, officers were sent to investigate a call of a man shot on the walking path under the expressway off of Stumpf Blvd.
"Responding officers located the male victim who had been shot at least once," said police in a statement. "EMS responded to the scene, and the victim was pronounced deceased."
It is the second homicide so far this year in Gretna, after the Westbank community had gone nearly two years without a killing.
