Halloween may still be over a month away, but one gory display in honor of spooky season has some New Orleans-area residents filing complaints with Jefferson Parish.
Vic Miorana has decorated his front yard with a gruesome and gory scene that some are calling blasphemous.
Miorana’s front yard-spanning diorama includes Satan holding Jesus’s severed head while his headless body is seen still hanging on the cross as a priest and nun look on. Skeletal parishioners also sit in pews, and there’s a full cemetery on display as well.
Some residents in the Bucktown section of Metairie who live near the display gold WWL-TV that they believe the decorations cross the line into being offensive.

When reached for comment, Jefferson Parish President Cynthia Lee Sheng said, “We are not aware of any local ordinances that specifically address this type of situation; however, this neighborhood display is clearly offensive and certainly not in the spirit of a family-friendly Jefferson Parish Halloween,” according to WWL-TV.
Speaking in his own defense, Miorana, who said he worked for months on the display before putting it up, told WWL-TV, “This is not real, and we have no interest in inciting violence. We have no bias against the church. We were both raised Catholic.”
