NOPD is investigating a homicide by shooting that occurred in the 500 block of Dauphine Street near the intersection with St. Louis.
At around 7:07 p.m., Eighth District Officers responded to a call of aggravated battery by shooting at the location.
Upon arrival, officers discovered an unknown male suffering with a gunshot wound(s) and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators are currently in the process of gathering evidence and information to identify the person(s) responsible for this incident, as well as a motive.
