The Jefferson parish Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide Saturday evening in Marrero.
Police say shortly after 5:00 p.m., deputies were sent to a multi-vehicle crash on Ames Blvd. near Rue Louis Phillippe.
"As they checked the drivers and occupants for injuries, they found one of the vehicles was occupied by a gunshot victim," said sheriff's office spokesman Capt. Jason Rivarde. "That victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead."
Investigators found spent bullet casings on Ames Blvd. near Mt. Kennedy Dr.
"Our investigators currently believe the victim was shot in that area, fled, then lost control of his vehicle and caused the crash at Rue Louis Phillippe," Rivarde said.
One other person from another vehicle was also hurt in the crash, said Rivarde. That person is being treated at an area hospital.
