Harvey man seriously burned in RV fire

A man using a propane burner to heat his RV ended up setting the vehicle on fire.

The resulting blaze destroyed the RV, two pickups, and resulted in serious burn injuries to the man.


Neighbors noticed the fire burning the RV and called in the Harvey Volunteer Fire Department to fight the blaze on Peters Road around 10:45 last night.

Upon arrival in the area, firefighters noticed heavy smoke coming from a residential area on Bayou Rd.

The 78 year old man said he was awakened by the heat from the fire which caused several burns as he escaped the burning vehicle and collapsed outside.

Firefighters called for an ambulance to transport him to the hospital.

The victim is in stable condition at University Medical Center being treated for his burns.
