Louisiana State Police are investigating a wreck on the Leeville Bridge that killed a Cutoff man Friday morning.
According to Trooper Ross Brennan, 27-year-old Johnny Garza was traveling north on LA 1 about five mile north of Port Fourchon when for reasons still unknown, his Ford Fusion crossed the centerline and cashed headlong into a south-bound Chevy Silverado.
Brennan says both vehicles caught fire after the crash.
"Garza suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene," said Brennan. "The driver of the Ford suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment."
Brennan said because of damage caused by the fire, it is unknown at this time if either driver was wearing a seat belt.
Toxicology results on both drivers are pending.
