The New Orleans Police Department is investigating a deadly hit-and-run crash in New Orleans East.
It happened late Tuesday at I-510 and Chef Menteur Highway.
"Upon arrival, officers discovered an unknown pedestrian in the far-left lane of westbound Chef Menteur Highway," said police. "EMS arrived and pronounced the victim deceased at the scene."
Police say investigators learned the victim was walking along a dimly-it portion of the road and was hit by a passing vehicle. The driver of that vehicle did not stop.
Shortly after 10 p.m., another vehicle came along and the driver was unable to avoid running over the victim, according to police. However, that driver stopped and cooperated with investigators.
