One man is dead after a Sunday night fire in Holly Grove.
According to a New Orleans Fire Department spokesman, that fire happened around 7:45 p.m. on Cohn Street near Hamilton Street.
When firefighters arrived, they found a wood-framed shed on fire. The blaze, the spokesman said, had spread to the home behind which the shed was standing. Witnesses told firefighters that someone may have been trapped inside the home.
Firefighters didn't find anyone inside the home, but they found the body of a 67-year-old man after the put out the fire in the shed. The name of the deceased has not yet been released.
According to investigators, the resident of the home said he and a friend were watching a football game inside the shed, which was being used as a "man cave." The resident told investigators he smelled smoke after going inside the house. That's when he noticed the shed had caught fire.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
