A man was found shot to death on the neutral ground in the 1600 block of Elysian Fields Wednesday night, and now the New Orleans Police Department says they have arrested a man for the fatal shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim lying on the neutral ground and suffering from an apparent gunshot wound(s). The victim was declared deceased at the scene.”

On Thursday, the NOPD announced they arrested 59-year-old Darryl Thomas in connection with the homicide. Thomas is booked into the Orleans Parish Justice Center on one count of second-degree murder.

The Orleans Parish Coroner’s Office will identify the victim after the completion of an autopsy and notification of the family.
