Hospitality leaders remain optimistic even as pandemic surges again

The New Orleans hospitality industry is dealing with potential good news, like fall festivals and the return of cruises from New Orleans, but also worrisome trends in the coronavirus pandemic.

"We're still optimistic is the bottom line," said New Orleans & Company Senior Vice President Kelly Schulz says even with the surging Delta variant of the coronavirus, they're hopeful. But they're also urging vaccinations for visitors and hospitality workers.

"When vaccines became more widely available to adults around the United States, those vaccinations were the thing that made travelers feel comfortable getting back out on the road again," Schulz said. "It is critical that everyone do their part to get vaccinated."

And Schulz says they are also promoting the safety measures meant to bridge the gap until full immunity is reached.

"We're being transparent with our visitors about, you know, the mask advisories that have been put in place," she said. "The fall of this year, and 2022, promises to be very strong, we're still feeling optimistic about that."
