Hot, humid weather pattern begins today

If you've been praying for an end to the rain we've been seeing over the last couple of weeks, your prayers will be answered--at least partly--this week.

We're embarking on a dryer, hotter weather pattern with partly cloudy skies and lots of sunshine. While the chance of scattered afternoon showers remain in the forecast, we won't be on the receiving end of any downpours such as the recent ones that caused localized street flooding. Rain chances will hover between 20 and 40 percent this week with high temperatures holding steady around 94°. High humidity will send heat indices into the triple digits, reaching or surpassing 105°.

The tropics remain quiet for now. However, models show a low-pressure system that could begin to organize in the coming days. However, there are no threats to the Gulf Coast over the next week.
