Hotel valet driver shot and killed in CBD

NOPD

New Orleans Police say bullets were flying outside the Ace Hotel early Sunday morning.

Just after midnight, there was a dispute outside the hotel in the 600 block of Carondelet Street.

"Officers responded to aggravated battery by shooting and determined argument occurred between suspect and victim," according to an initial police report. "Victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Victim was declared deceased at hospital."

It was later determined that the victim was working at the hotel's valet stand when he and a customer got into it.

Our partners at NOLA.com report that both men pulled out guns.

The report says there were indications that the valet worker may have been the aggressor.

NOPD says they know the shooters identity, but detectives did not arrest the gunman after their initial interview.
