The Southeast Louisiana Flood Protection Authority-East, which handles the hurricane levee system for all of metro New Orleans east of the river, confirms there were no breaches or overtopping of the flood risk reduction system during Hurricane Ida.

SLFPA-E reports no issues with the massive pumps used to drain New Orleans outfall canals, either.

"We will be inspecting the system today and assessing any damages as soon as conditions allow," the authority said in a statement.

Ida was the most powerful storm to test the system since it was completed, with numerous upgrades designed after lessons learned from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. Ida was forecast to bring a storm surge of seven to eleven feet to areas east of the Mississippi River.
