Hurricane Rafael to stay far away from Louisiana, but could send some rain

Tropics

The National Hurricane Center now says that Hurricane Rafael will not get anywhere near Louisiana.

The forecast path shows the system moving west across the Gulf of Mexico toward Mexico.

However, some of the rain from the storm could still make it to Louisiana.

"It's possible that wind shear does carry some moisture our way this weekend," WWL TV Meteorologist Payton Malone explained.

He's got rain chances at 30% for Saturday, and says it could be higher for Sunday.

"Winds will stay breezy out of the east."
