After allegedly murdering his ex-girlfriend, Christin Parker, 32, and her nephew, Brandon Parker, 26, on Monday in Baker Louisiana, 30-year-old Eric Derell Smith fled to Mississippi with a four-month-old child where police fatally shot him following a police chase.
Police found him and the child in his car near Gulfport Mississippi. According to police, Smith led police on a chase into Biloxi where he got his car stuck on the median. Authorities say he then got into a shootout with officers while holding the child.
Smith was killed in the shootout. The child was injured in the incident and taken to the hospital where they later died. It is unclear if the child was injured in the chase or the shootout with police.
