The NFL has invited New Orleans to submit a late bid on Super Bowl 65, set for 2031. Local leaders say this shows the ongoing improvements in the city are working.
Despite New Orleans' many challenges, civic leaders and city and state government pulled together for the world coming to town for Super Bowl 59, said GNO Inc. president Michael Hecht.
Hecht said it resulted in NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell praising it as "the best ever."
"The fact that we've now been invited to apply for the next Super Bowl in six years is clear evidence that he meant that," Hecht told WWL's Newell Normand. "That was really about getting the basics right. It was about filling in the cracks in the sidewalk as much as anything."
Hecht says while the Saints, sports foundation, and others work on that bid, New Orleans needs to keep moving forward, whether New Orleans lands the big game or not.
