The Saints are starting a new quarterback this weekend, one who's never taken a snap in an NFL regular-season game. And yet a lot of the Who Dat Nation seems happy with this.
Is this fan enthusiasm for a rookie QB justified?
"Oh, I don't know if it's justified," said Voice of the Saints Mike Hoss. Hoss says it's probably a case of the old adage "the backup QB is the most popular guy in town."
"The crowd loves the backup, right? Especially when things are not going well, give me the backup," said Hoss.
Hoss points out that it's just a weird feeling here in New Orleans lately after a decade and a half of having a Hall of Fame quarterback.
"We just have not really had to deal with it a lot because we had so many years with Drew," he said.
Hoss says he rest of the offense needs to play their part to take the pressure off Rattler, and the defense needs to step up and show it can close out a close game.
