The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival returns for its first weekend, kicking off Thursday, April 23, with a celebration of music, culture, and community.

Hundreds of thousands of people are expected to head out to the Fair Grounds to take in performances from a wide range of local, national, and international artists.

Headliners include the Eagles, Stevie Nicks, Rod Stewart, Kings of Leon, Lainey Wilson, Teddy Swims, Lorde, Jon Batiste and T-Pain.

With major acts set to take the stage, New Orleans and Company President Walt Leger says the festival reflects the city’s growing global recognition.

“We’ve always known New Orleans is the music capital of the world,” Leger said. “Now with that UNESCO designation, the rest of the world knows it too.”

This year’s festival also highlights the culture of Jamaica, bringing its music, cuisine, and traditions to the forefront.

Festival producer Quint Davis says the cultural exchange is a key part of the experience.

“We’re featuring Jamaica this year, all of its sights, the sounds, and the food,” Davis said.

Beyond the music, Jazz Fest is known for its wide array of local dishes, handcrafted goods, and cultural showcases that reflect the heritage of Louisiana and beyond.

Organizers say whether you’re there for a headlining performance, a favorite local dish, or simply the atmosphere, the festival offers something for everyone.

“It’s about heritage, it’s about culture, and it’s about community,” Davis said.

With the first weekend underway, Jazz Fest once again brings together the elements that define New Orleans making it one of the most celebrated festivals in the world.
