Police in Jefferson Parish continue to search for the driver of a hit and run that severely injured 23-year-old Tyler Wehrlin Thursday night.

Wehrlin was on a first date at Rock-n-Sake in Metairie when at some point, he walked across the street to his parked car. That is when witnesses say a white car hit Wehrlin and knocked him into a light pole.

Werhlin’s mother tells WWL-TV he suffered a skull fracture, brain hemorrhage, and internal bleeding.

"What person, what heartless person can leave a human on the side...he was a good boy," said Wehrlin’s mother, Rachel McMahan.

The family has set up a Gofundme account to help with Wehrlin’s future surgeries.

“His brain has swelling, clots, and bruising. Please keep Tyler and our family in your prayers as we wait for more details on his condition and hope for the police to find the person who hurt him,” said his sister Hailey Wehrlin on the Gofundme post.
