The father of Ka’mauri Harrison declared a hearing before the Jefferson Parish Public School System board shameful.
The contentious six hour hearing promptly ended when the board refused to let Harrison’s lawyer call the Louisiana Solictor General Liz Murrill to testify on Ka’Mauri’s behalf during the proceeding.
Ultimately the board found for itself, but did end up cutting Ka’Mauri’s suspension from six days to three.
Mr. Harrison told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate:
"It really just makes me more angry, they are just doubling down. It hit a nerve for me."
Ka’Mauri initially was recommended for expulsion after he was seen moving a BB gun so his younger brother wouldn’t trip over it.
In the end, Chelsea Cusimano, the attorney for Ka’Mauri, told the paper:
"They ignored their own policy," she said. "They just don't seem to learn."
