A Metairie woman has confessed to the making of child pornography to pay her rent.
Chelsea Forbes says she livestreamed the molestation of a 4-year-old child when confronted by authorities.
Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office detective Kay Horne told the Times-Picayune/New Orleans Advocate Forbes fondled and used a sex toy on the victim.
The video was posted to the chat room members using the Kik messaging app.
Horne also says Forbes tried to sell an explicit photo of the victim to a man in the chat group for $1,500.
Testifying in Magistrate Court Monday, Horne said: "She said she was in dire straits, as far as income, and she needed money to pay her rent and feed her kids.”
Forbes was arrested on February 3rd and booked with sexual battery and possession of pornography involving juveniles.
JPSO became involved in the case when federal authorities in Florida contacted them.
An agent learned of the illegal live feed and traced the IP address back to Louisiana to Forbes.
Assistant District Attorney Shannon Swaim successfully argued to keep Forbes bail at $150,000, calling Forbes a danger to society.
Criminal Commissioner Paul Schneider, agreed and ruled there is probably cause to continue keeping Forbes in jail.
