Jefferson Parish Sheriff Joseph Lopinto says his detectives are investigating a homicide that happened this morning in Avondale.
“Just after 7:00 am, deputies were dispatched to a report of a man down in the 300 block of Coretta Drive. They located the victim seated in a vehicle in front of a residence. He was suffering from at least one gunshot wound and was pronounced dead on the scene,” the sheriff said in a statement.
The sheriff says there is no suspect or motive information available at this time. The victim’s identity is being withheld pending the notification of next of kin.
