Louisiana State Police is investigating a single-vehicle crash that ultimately proved deadly to a Kentwood man.
Troopers say the crash happened around 2:15 Monday afternoon on LA 450 about a mile north of LA 25 in St. Tammany Parish.
"The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2001 Ford F-350 was traveling north on LA 450," according to Trooper Shelby Mayfield. "For reasons still under investigation, the driver lost control of the vehicle, traveled off the left side of the roadway, and struck a tree."
Mayfield said the driver was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
A passenger in the truck, identified as 89-year-old George Cole, sustained moderate injuries. State police said they were notified Tuesday that Cole died from those injuries.
"Impairment is not suspected; however, routine toxicology samples were obtained and submitted for analysis," said Mayfield. "This crash remains under investigation."
