Kingsbarns came out of the starting gate and didn’t look back.
Broadcast reports say the three-year-old colt led wire-to-wire to win the million dollar Louisiana Derby by four lengths, Saturday at Fair Grounds.
In the victory the horse picked up 100 qualifying points for the Kentucky Derby.
Kingsbarns was masterfully driven by Jocky Flavien Prat who broke out early from the field of 12 and stayed ahead to win.
For Trainer Todd Pletcher this could be second horse to enter Kentucky Derby.
He already has Forte, winner of the Fountain of Youth Stakes at Gulfstream and is set to race again next week in the Florida Derby.
Kingsbarns ran the mile and 3/16th in one-minute-57-seconds for the victory.
He was the second favorite going off at 9-to-2 odds, paying $11 for the win.
The favorite, Instant Coffee had a lackluster run, breaking out at 10th and progressing only to 6th at the finish line.
Disarm and Jace’s Road ran second and third.
They picked up 30-points and 20-points toward Kentucky Derby qualifying.
