The number of people filing for unemployment benefits in Louisiana last week, skyrocketed to 16,296. That is a one week jump of 1,454 more than the previous week’s 14,842 unemployment claims according to the Louisiana Workforce Commission’s newest data.
In a media statement, LWC says, “The four-week moving average of initial claims increased to 17,972 from the previous week’s average of 17,945.”
It also added, “The unemployment insurance continued claims for the week ending September 26, 2020 decreased to 214,860 from the week ending September 19, 2020 total of 238,724. The continued claims were above the comparable figure of 14,054 for the week ending September 28, 2019.”
