The Lafourche Parish Sheriff's Office says it arrested four suspects for what they call cheekily call a "meth sandwich" -- an apparent attempt to hide methamphetamine in a hollowed-out loaf of bread.
Under arrest are Larose residents Reggie Estay, 46, Robin Morant, 53, Sherman Allen Jr., 40, and Sue Gisclair, 41. Estay was taken in during a traffic stop. Deputies say they arrested the other three during a search of Estay's home.
"Narcotics agents had been investigating Reggie Estay for the sale of narcotics and obtained a warrant for Distribution of Methamphetamine," the sheriff's office said in a news release. When deputies spotted Estay traveling in a car Tuesday, they pulled it over, and after a drug-sniffing dog alerted them, searched the vehicle.
"During a search of the vehicle, agents located a loaf of bread in its retail packaging," said officials. "Inside the package, they discovered part of the loaf had been hollowed out to conceal a bag containing over 50 grams of suspected methamphetamine."
Based on that search, detectives obtained a search warrant for Estay's home. The sheriff's office says there, they found more methamphetamine, plus the three other individuals, all of whom were in possession of meth, according to the authorities.
