A former financial advisor from Cut Off is facing more than 50 years in prison after being convicted of racketeering, money laundering, and felony theft.
On Friday, a Lafourche Parish jury found Kristian Gaudet guilty, concluding a week-long trial. Sentencing is scheduled for August 18.
According to prosecutors, Gaudet stole money from customers of his insurance and financial consulting business. All of his victims testified that Gaudet stole more than $25,000 from them, with some telling jurors Gaudet took hundreds of thousands of dollars of their investment funds for himself.
Gaudet's bond has been revoked pending his sentending.
